Judicial Activism Panel takes notice as Pakistani skipper Shahid Afridi shows intense love for India. Afridi came under fire by the Pakistani fans and criticized him over his harsh statement given at a press conference on Saturday in Kolkata.
He said Pakistan team gets more love in India than they get in their own country. While talking to media he appreciated the warm reception that Pakistan team has got in Kolkata. Shahid Afridi was all praises for the Indian cricket team and the nation. He said he always enjoyed playing cricket in India.
On his controversial remarks, The Judicial Activism Panel (JAP) served a legal notice to Afridi and asked him to clarify his statement. The lawyers’ panel said the captain must elucidate why he gave such a statement. The JAP asserted a claim that Afridi’s remarks hurt the sentiments of the nation, a local media reported. In case he does file a reply, a legal proceeding could be launched against him.
However, while reacting to the recent controversy, Afridi took to social networking site Facebook and posted, “If we demanded peace instead of another television set, then there would be peace in the world. Alas some journalists are born to deliberately misinterpret an innocent statement. Be positive, be true!”.
Legendary Javed Miandad has also said that players making such statements should be ‘ashamed’ of themselves for saying such a thing.
